SHORT HISTORY OF TAYSAN WATER DISTRICT (TayWD)

The Taysan Water District is a government owned and controlled corporation and was issued a Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC) No. 470 on October 22, 1990 after complying with the minimum requirements for Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). It is categorized as small sized water district under the standards sets by the LWUA.

The Taysan Water District was established and became operational in 1995 with the construction of two (2) deep wells/pumping station located in Poblacion Ilaya and Poblacion Ibaba with a combined capacity of 5.43 lps. As of February 2000, the WD had 298 connections in Poblacion East, Poblacion West, Brgy. Mahanadiong and Mabayabas.

The Water District in its desire to increase the number of concessionaires and improve its viability requested a P3.335M loan to Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). Subsequently, LWUA approved its loan for intention improvement project in March 1994.The amount financed the construction of an entirely new water supply system, which includes the pumping facilities, transmissions and distributions lines and water treatment facilities, installation of service connections, purchased of office equipment and land acquisition.

In June 1999, another financial assistance was granted by LWUA to water district to expand its service area to adjacent barangay. The project includes the rehabilitation of existing deep wells, purchase of electro mechanical equipment, construction of pump house, installation of transmissions/distribution pipelines, gate valves, blow off valves/improvised fire hydrant and installation of new service connections.
